Strut inserts and chrome removal 200

Ok, I've pretty much accomplished all I need with the functionality of my 87 brick - despite the lingering CAT converter material in the muffler that I'll soon get to removing in time...

What's the story on the struts from FCP and IPD?

I'm hearing the Bilstein's Touring are a flop - Boge is a few tiers up from Monroe - KYB needs to stick to motorcycles - and we all know that Koni is the shiznit. I can't bank roll $546 in one sitting on shocks - it's not a 242 GT.

Lately I've been experiencing "The Polygraph Effect" on the front end - every little cut joint in the concrete is FELT - if the fissure is going longitudinally to the car, I can feel the vehicle attempt to track it like a needle in a record - anyway, I'm looking to replace it all (i.e. Lower Ball Joints, Upper Strut Mounts, Struts, Bearings, 25mm sway bars, blah blah) I've already replaced the bushings in the control arms for front and rear 2 years ago c/o VolvoWorld (don't roll your eyes, I was new to this car)

Just like to hear some info on these struts from actual consumers in the brickboard...

Tim

P.s. Anyone ever tried removing the pesky chrome from their grill?
