240 Tail Lights will not come off

What holds the tail light assembly in place?
I have removed the four nuts (well broke a couple)that appears to be the only thing holding it. Pushing from the inside and/or pulling from the outside does not help. Seems if I push or pull too hard, I will break something. Is it just the gasket that is holding it from comming appart?
