driveline center support bushing 900

how much play is the rubber boot around the driveline support bearing suppose to have, I am getting a thumping noise when I brake moderately hard, I have checked the brakes over and don't see any problem with them but I could grab the drive line and move it up and down in the center support and I seem to get the same thumping noise but not sure.
