The Mobil-1 5W-40 I used last summer worked well. Clatter on start-up ended quicker, viscosity help up at speed. Now it's time to remove the 5W-30 and go back to 5W-40.
Started looking for it in Mid-Bebruary, could not find the stuff. Looked at NAPA, AutoZone, Advance, and even Wal-Mart.
Then last week I found and bought a 1-gallon jug at a Wal-Mart for $24xx after tax. Found a few 1-quart jugs at Auto-Zone for $5.99 B4 tax. Waited til today to go back to Wal-Mart for the needed 2 more quarts.
There is NONE, nil, zip, nada, in any size jug. But I found lots of quarts of Shell Rotella 5W-40 for $4.42 a quart. Bought two, sort of a test.
So what do you know about Rotella? Sez it's good for low-sulphur Diesel engines, but I wonder how it is in my B6304 super-whiz all-aluminum Volvo engine. Wonder what happens if the two are mixed in the engine.
Your thoughts and ideas wll be welome.
Bob
