I am in the process of swapping the entire front strut assemblies from one car to another and have reached the point of deciding what to do about the brake lines.
I have searched and found two methods on here that describe cutting a slot in the bracket welded to the strut tube that will allow the entire brake line connection to slip off the strut:
1) Use a dremel to cut a lot large enough for the line to pass through
2) hacksaw a slit and bend the tabs
My question is: can anyone who has done either of these describe how you did it for me? How wide is the slot you cut? Where on the bracket did you make the slot? Was it necessary to loosen the brake line fitting at all, or does the whole connection just slide out?
I'm going tool shopping and need to decide what to get (flare nut wrenches or not).
Thanks
