Vibration and droning at 1500 rpm on acceleration - tranny tailshaft? 700 1989

Greetings

I'm having this vibration and droning noise when accelerating. It's loudest at around 1500 rpm. I suspect a driveline issue so I checked the driveshaft and the associated bits. The u-joints didn't have any play nor does the center bearing and its bushing. The rear pinion also is tight. However at the tailshaft end I could rock the driveshaft at that end a bit. There's no leak at the tranny end.

Could it be a bad tranny tailshaft bearing or bushing causing my vibration? I've never changed it on my 740 so any advise or caveats would be appreciated. I think I'll be getting someone else to do this job as going through the FAQ the job looks labour intensive requiring a couple of hours with special tools.

Thanks
