I am rebuilding my distributor (bad seal) on my 90 740T, which overall hasn't been too tough a job. I read the FAQ's and still managed not to mark the orientation of the rotor and distributor shaft (hence the "idiot" remark).
Is there anyway to determine the correct orientation prior to re-installing and seeing if it runs? I am having some other issues with the car also, so even if I replace it correctly, the car may not start, and I won't know if the distributor is causing the problem or not. Thanks for the help.
