Removing Fuel Tank Pump from 1985 GL 200

Well, I'm in the process of trying to get the tank pump out. Got the locking ring loose ok and got the hose which goes to the main pump off ok ..... but the other hose is proving impossible to get off ! I even tried to loosen the nut at the other end but it wouldn't budge !! Shouldn't this hose also come off at the tank pump end ??? What's the trick to this ?
