Lubricating the ball joint? 200 1990

Okay, I just did a search for ball joint, and came up with no results!

1990 244DL

I am wondering if it is possible to lube the ball joints? I'm trying to eliminate a clunk in the driver's wheel area when going over uneven ground. There is a possibility that the gland nut on the new strut is not quite tight, but it's been tightened as far as I can get it, and the shop still says they tightened it, even though it turned an additional 4 rotations once it got back here.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! I'm soooo close!

I think I can, I think I can, I think I can get Junior on the road!
