idles good, but high choppy idle in 'drive' 900

My 940 wagon idles well when it's in "park" or "neutral" but when I come to a stop and have the car in "drive" the idle is up arounf 1300 rpm and sounds rough.
Any ideas? Please point me in the right direction, and I'll take it from there. thanks.
