Hey guys,
Wondering if anybody has heard of this. I had a new Bosch check valve on hand (P/N 1587010539) and dropped the FP tray and pulled the check valve on the car as the next step in chasing a hot, long crank time start problem. Much to my surprise the new Bosch valve has different thread size on the FP side than the valve on the car. And much my greater surprise the thing on the car has no valve part, it's just a straight thru brass fitting. Just so I'm perfectly clear, the part I'm describing looks just like a check valve and is between the front of the FP (as in towards the front of the car) and the little 3 inch hard plastic hose that goes over to the filter. Could I have been running the last 5 years since I bought this brand X fuel pump without a check valve and not seen hot-restart problems until now?? I found one other post from a couple years ago about cheap fuel pumps not having the same check valve as Bosch but I couldn't find anything about not having a check valve aqt all. So if what I am seeing is true then if your cheapie fuel pump check valve goes you're stuck with buying a new FP. Anybody know anything about this?
