We have an opportunity to possibly purchase an '83 240DL wagon with only 84k miles on it. I haven't gone to look at it yet, but is supposed to be well-maintained and in great shape. We would only be using it as a 3rd car and not as a primary means of transportation for either my wife or me.

We are previous Volvo owners, having owned a '96/97? 960 and a '99 XC. We loved the cars, but finally had to get rid of them because of un-ending repair bills.

My question is: What is the general consensus on the 240 DL as far as problems, repairs, etc? Would this make a good 3rd car that might be driven 10-15k miles/year? Haven't talked price yet. What would be a fair price for this car if it is in as good condition as I've been told?
