Readyness codes not ready?

I just don't get it for some reason-Here in the Mountians of Va we don't have to have the sniffer test performed-yet-cars running fine -no problems but
I hook up my scanner to check mil status and it tells me that
fuel injection ready

Miss fire ready
compression ready
timing ready
emmisions not ready
02 sensor not ready
Heated 02 sensor not ready
cat not ready
Drive thousands of miles but can't get these systems back where they should be
all the vac hose are in good shape(hell I inspect them every time I check the oil) just venting-pardon the pun-any ideas anyone-it's got me
