Where is fuel pick-up in tank? 700

I have a 1990 740 GL sedan, B230F (LH 2.4).

I can tell by watching the fuel gauge as I go up and down hills that the sensor is in the rear of the tank. As the tank gets low, I always wonder if the fuel pick-up is also in the rear of the tank. (If so, I'd be more likely to run out of fuel while going down hill.)

Is the gasoline pick-up in the rear of the tank?
