This is an article from a Tech Tip sheet I stumbled upon:

ELECTRONIC CONTROLLED
MOTOR MOUNTS- NISSAN
MAXIMA 2000-01

The Nissan Maxima equipped with an
automatic transmission since 1995 has
been using electronically controlled fluid
engine mounts to reduce vibration. From
1995-1999 they use only one front
electronic motor mount. Vehicles from
2000 and up are equipped with two
electronic mounts: a front and a rear.
These mounts have an externally mounted
two position control motor that determines
the level of firmness of the mount: either
soft or firm. The two modes are “IDLE” (or
soft) at idle conditions, and “TRVL” (or
firm) at 2,000 rpm and above. The ECM
controls the engine mount operation
according to the engine speed and the
vehicle speed. 2000-2001 models have
developed some problems where the
motors would electrically short internally
causing a buzzing noise after the engine
has been turned off. Replacement of the
engine mount is the only solution in those
cases. However, before you decide to
replace the any of the mounts, make sure
that the mount’s wiring harness and its’
connector is not damaged due to excessive
engine movement.

This is an application of technology that solves a problem that no one knew they had. Just for grins, I checked online. The 2000 Maxima uses 3 motor mounts (2 "smart" mounts). If you need all three it would cost you over $500 for motor mounts!
