------ quote from rich -------------
Had several 140 series cars over the years, most were excellent. My last one, a 71 142S, I sold a few years back to a young guy in Calgary. It is a bright yellow, I think it was called Aztec Gold at the time, can`t miss it!
Good luck with the project. BTW, who is the Volvo genius in Calgary?
Cheers!
Rich, High River.

I moved this from the intro thread since another fellow asked me to post on the 140 forum.

I haven't seen a bright yellow 142 around, but probably isn't my part of town.

The guy I was talking about keeps a really low profile. He has about 30-40 regular customers but he kind of chooses them carefully. It's a hobby for him and he's had bad experiences with people treating him like a regular commercial garage. If you want to get in touch with him, give me your contact info and what you're interested in and I'll let him know.

However, he's been rebuilding and restoring Volvos for 25 years and has a huge collection of parts. He's currently restoring a P1800 and a rare 123 for himself. He'll sell the P1800 but the 123 is for him.

The other night we worked on my 1968 142S. We rebuilt my 2 carbs (SUs), fixed a leak between the master cylinder and that vacuum-assisted power break thing, restored some of my body and interior trim (pulling from his personal stash), changed the filter and oil, fixed a leak next to the fuel filter and drained the gas tank.

The Sunday before that he replaced part of the valvetrain (the shaft that the rockers are attached to - sorry for my crappy vocabulary). Someone had done a bad repair. I can't believe how much this guy gets done in 3-4 hours. Thats while stopping to explain stuff to me.

I've got a lightbulb here with me (the ones my car uses are hard to find. Some French aftermarket thing that some of you may be familiar with) and once that's in the car pass will pass inspection and be on the road. I took it for a drive the other night and it ran really really well.

Anyway, thanks for letting me share my 142S experience. I'm really enjoying it a lot.

SS
