I have a check engine light that when checked, sends a code referring to the air mass meter... But a very reputable mechanic who knows the car well claimed that the car runs too well to have a bad AMM. It is most likely a vacuum leak... ?
My problem is there are no good threads about how to find a vacuum leak or any online vacuum diagrams for this model. I know I can use propane or carb cleaner on the hoses to find a leak, but can someone please tell me a way to identify vacuum hoses - all of them? If anyone has this knowledge it is much needed here, especially if described in-depth in a way an amateur mechanic can understand.
Another curious thing is that when I unplug the negative battery cable to work on the electrical system, the CEL light goes out after hooking it back up. It also runs extremely poor once reconnected, for about 5-10 minutes and then the CEL light returns and it runs like a dream!
What gives?
