1997 965 RF seat - power is not, seat not useable. 900

The car came with the problem, seat would move forward, not back; seat back would move to tilt more, not less.

We lived with it for 2 years. Then the car went through the dealer's wash and vacuum stuff that they do for every car they service.

The dingbats doing the work moved the seat all the way forward to vacuum under the back, making the seat useless for anyone over 5 feet tall. Mot me, or the wife.sig.

The seat won't move back, or up. Sits there fully forward and at the lowest level. I am getting used to riding in the right rear seat. A little jouncy.

Plan of action:

(1) Remove the seat cushion to gain access to the wiring.

(2) Disconnect battery negative and wrap terminal in plastic bag.

(3) Determine which wires or leads in the connector plug to the control board can be used. I have the Volvo wiring diagram manual.

(4) Use another source of 12 volts and apply power to the various motors to get the seat to move to where we can live with it.

I believe that the problem is electrical, not the drive cables. The STOP button moves in and out OK, the seat back will tilt further, and trying the other directions brings no motor noises at all.

Problem - how to get the seat cushion off? I am really familiar with the 240 seats, how the skins are attached in the front, etc. Not with the 960.

Anyone there who can give me some directions?

Thanks guys and gals,

Bob
