I have the bolster out of my 92 so I can have easy access to wiring to the fuses, etc. while doing some upgrades. Looking at the bolster and the cross bar which supports it, I'm wondering if the bolster serves some function I don't get?

Does that cross bar serve some support function to the frame/dash?

In other words, do I 'need' it, or does it just look nice?
