88 760 distributor options? 700 1988

I just finished replacing the noisy 230ft block in my 88 765 with a great block that I salvaged from an 86 244. Since the electrical connector for the side distributor is the same as the Hall sensor and the 86 camshaft is not machined for the rear head distributor, I tried to use the side mount distributor with the 88 electronics. Well, it did not work, so it looks like the turbo camshaft and distributor will have to go in unless someone else has made a successful swap and woould like to share the secret.

Thanks,
