5 mins then it dies 200

Here is one that is throwing me. I have an 86 240 w/ 180,000 miles. About two years ago she died in traffic and a friend helped me get it home. The engine turned over but wouldn't start. Fast forward to two weeks ago, I finally decided to replace the Hall Sensor and after adjusting the distributor one tooth, it started and ran fine....for about 5 mins. Every day I get home I can start it up and it runs fine, a little engine wobble, but no skips. then it just cuts off. No sputter, no cough just cuts off. It's as if you turned the switch off. It also dies under load when I put it in gear. I can turn the key and it will start right up and run, but for a little bit shorter time. Eventually after about 5 times she won't start at all till later. I replaced the fuel filter, and put in a bottle of Heet and injector cleaner and I sprayed the heck out of a can of carb. cleaner. Still did the same thing. I tried the "disconnect the Mass Air Flow" trick and it wouldn't run at all. I can't determine if the problem is heat related or fuel related.
I'm wondering if it accumulated some water in the tank, or gummed something up. I did put in about 5 gals of fresh petrol. It's been doing this for a week so I assumed that all the old gas should be burned off by now. I been going through the archives and I couldn't find anything related to a situation like mine.
i REALLY got to get this thing running because it's better on gas than the Cherokee. All responses WILL be appreciated.
