240 Overheating/AC use 200

1990 244 - 210K on the clock

Here are my symptoms...
When I turn on the AC and drive for
over 20 minutes my temperature gauge will
begin to soar towards the upper limits.
I turn off the air and the gauge drops
back down to normal. If I am driving
in to a headwind, it does not happen
as often/soon. If I have a strong tail wind
it happens much sooner. If the AC is
turned off I do not have any temperature
problems.

What's the deal? Is my radiator simply
not cutting it any more? It has a good
water pump, newer coolant - doesn't
leak. Do I need another fan?

Thanks in advance for the help/advice!
