fuel gauge slow to respond 900 1991

91 940GL B230F Bosch LH2.4

The last few times I've filled my 940 with fuel, the petrol gauge has been slow to indicate a full tank. Today I filled the car from about 1/4 tank and when I started the car it still showed 1/4 tank but then SLOWLY crept its way up to the full mark. Usually it instantly indicates a full tank. Then I stopped the car for 5 minutes and when I started it again the gauge registered a full tank like normal. Is the sender on its way south? Other possibilities
