240 no oil pressure after engine rebuild 200 1984

hello all, i thought i'd write down my volvo woe's and see if anyone has any opinions as to why this may be happening. I recently had my b21ft engine machined and rebuilt by a reputeable machine shop and i put it back in my 1984 245GL myself. it started up perfectly and idles great but there is no oil pressure. i cannot see any external leaks at all. all my oil lines are hooked up properly, everything is new or is in great condition, oil pump is new and installed by the shop, new turbocharger and all gaskets are new. i have no idea what is going on. the oil cooler was completely drained of oil, do i have to prime it before i start it or should it fill automatically? any ideas? i really want to avoid pulling the engine again, this has been such a long battle, ive basically reached the end of my humour with this car, and its been sitting there for a week while i chill out a little. i started looking for a new car then realized i need to give this thing a chance after all the time and effort ive already invested. if you have any thoughts or experiences that may be of help it would be much appreciated.
have a good one!
