Or shoud I call it the mystery machine? Here's the deal: After a very lengthy down time with this car, I got a few things sorted out. First, it was running exteremely rich which fouled plugs and the O2 sensor- got that straight. There is still a lingering issue. Here's the scenario: I take the - neg terminal from the battery and let the ECU reset. The Cd player works. After around 2-3 minutes, it shuts off and acts like the fuse is blown. Do the procedure again and it works for 2-3 minutes then it quits. As well, after all of the above problems (running rich), I still had a 1-2-1 fault code. I disconnected the battery and the light went off. Well problem solved right? No, after I shut the car off and let it sit for a minute, I went to restart and it was acting the same way as before I serviced it- rough idle, black smoke, then it cleared out. Just so I am giving complete information, I have done the following things:
1). Removed and cleaned the IAC valve, and the throttle body.
2). Installed new plugs (I learned my lesson with Bosch Platinums)
3).Replaced the O2 sensor with a known good sensor and tested with a DMM at the connection- verified voltage fluctuating from .5-1v.
New plug wires.
4.) Swapped the AMM with one from my other 245. SInce the other car ran before I removed it, and runs on the one I swapped with, I can conclude that the AMM is good.
5.) Checked the intake bellows and tightened all connections.
Tomorrow I am going to check the values at the ECU and make sure the AMM is grounded. Other than that, I am stumped.
One last thing worth mentioning, when I had the A/C replaced (new compressor, condensor, etc.), the idiot that did the work bypassed the condensor fan relay and jumped it through the coil so it is on all the time. Any help would be greatly appreciated. .
