Car screeches in PARK, DRIVES fine, no electrical 700 1989

Started my 745 (non-turbo), and it sounded like the alternator, A/C or something was screeching. Once in Drive, the sound went away, but I had no signals, no radio, no window power, and I assume all around no electrical power. Made it home like this, the car ran quietly and smoothly with no hesitation. The SRS light was on the whole time. Got home and put it into park and it started screeching again. Shut it down and started it back up, now everything was back to normal with all systems go. Unable to duplicate problem.

Any ideas? I assume the SRS light being on and the screeching in park are related. How can such a loud mechanical sound be electrically related to the SRS light?
