Bleeder Valve Dust caps? 200 1983

Hi all,
I'm just curious to know if bleeder valve dust caps are really necessary. I think I've got only two left of the original eight on my car and as I'm working on bleeding the brakes this afternoon, I wasn't sure if I should get new dust covers for the bleed valves, or if they're just fine without the caps? Thanks again all!
