Hi there
I have a 1990 240DL brick. Its got te B230F with a hair over 255,000 miles. I have NO idea what has been replaced on the inside of the motor. It seems to run fine. I have been to it for about 1,000 miles with no real issues. The Vavles make noise, but I had a friend listen to it on a cold startup and there is some light thuding. So I'm hoping its just the known piston slap on start up. What are the chances this could be rod bearings? The noise ist noticable till you rev it up a hair (~2000 rpms) and let go of the throttle. If it is the bearings should I prepare to rebiuld the motor? Is there a chance the crank is not tappered or damageed beyond just replacing the bearings? I can hear it faintly even after the car is warm. Like a quite deisel engine. The oil pump, will it pump well at 255,000 miles in these motors? Does anyone have a spare motor I can rebiuld and put in this car? Sorry for being drawn out. THanks for reading.
I love this car and want to keep it forever (or atleast have a brick if not this one)
