So i am 400 miles from home and my car decides to act up, got to love it.
So my car is a 240dl with almost 200,000 miles. It has had some idle problems but i just rcently fixed that when i changed the timing belt, and it was running good. Then about a week ago when i would take off in first and second gear, i give the car gas, and it starts to go but then the fuel starts to cut in and out, but once i reached third gear and later it would run perfectly fine. When i am in nuetral my car idles okay, and i can rev it up to 5000 rpm's no problem. Its just once i put it in gear and there is a load put on the car the fuel sputters.
So now up here, I can get the car moving, but now in every gear it sputters. I have to keep pushing the gas pedal in and out to get gas to flow, if I keep the pedal pushed toward the floor, it cuts out.
I checked my obd codes and it threw out 2-2-1, 2-3-1, and 1-1-3. My car has been showing the first two codes for a bit, but the 1-1-3 is new. I read that code means faulty fuel injectors, so i dont know.
I unplugged the cable connectiing to the injectors and put a test light on them, and they all registered. But i dont kow ho to tell which injectors is bad if you can;t see them firing.
All my spark plugs have spark, the 25A fuse is good, all the fuses are good, and i have changed my fuel filter in the last 2 months. I also thought it could have been because my gas tank was low, but i refiled the tank and its still doing the same.
I am hoping there will be a few ideas with things to check, or if I have to put in a new injector I am willing too. I just dont know how to find out which is bad. I just dont want to tow it all the way home, or sputter for 8 hours all the way home. Thanks for the help.
