Hello everyone, I am having some issues with the ignition timing on my 1988 745T.
My car has turbo + kit..
The distributor has been pulled to the passenger side(or retarded)as far as I can, and I can verify it with my timing light. It's still still sitting at 18~19 degrees from what I can see with my timing light. I think I am also looking at the right mark, as I can also verify the timing by sound of ping. The current idle is quite rough, too.
The setting does not have any audible ping under full boost @ 5th gear, 2500-3000rpm+. I am using the Chevron 92 octane(1 higher than others)..
Why worry about the timing when it does not ping?- it's because I am running a raised boost, which is at 14psi currently. Advanced timing with raised boost level could make detonation could result in a more powerful destruction-
I think this is because when I got the hall sensor on the distributor replaced by one of my friend, it wasn't positioned right.
Could this be anything else? what else could I do to treat this problem?
Please help me out!
Thanks,
Alex
