I have a solid copper head gasket and I had it made out of .016 material. I am looking for advise from Phil S. or others. When I do this to a B20F I figure I will end up around 9.5 compression ratio. Question is ...is .016 too thin? Maker claims this is what many dragsters use and as long as it is clean and flat (both head and deck were done before I put the engine in 3 weeks ago)I think it's a good idea. I have a modified F head that is on the car now at 9.75 CR and also an "E" head and .048 Copper gasket that will give me right about 10.0 without mods. I just came back from Carlisle and got 23MPG on regular fuel with the 9.75 head (DCOE). Problem is I cannot leave well enough alone. At Carlisle I found a set of headers and I have another set of DCOE's that have been rebuilt and ready to go. Thought is to remove the whole head - header - carb as an assembly and try out the B20 "F" with the tight copper head gasket - Carbs - Headers as the alternative assembly. And see what I get.
Comments?
Thanks
