I started the old girl up saturday and even though it was warm out she idled at nearly 1500rpms. I drove her and when i went to park she was still revving. I popped the hood and checked the micro switch on the throttle body...it was fine. I then pinched off the hose between the accordion like air intake tube and the idle air control motor...this settled her down. I then shut off the engine and sprayed solvent (brake cleaner) into the hose from the intake manifold to the idle air control valve and into the hose from the accordion like air intake to the idle air control valve. i also sprayed out the throttle body and its vacuum ports. every thing seems to be ok now...aside from the grumbles the engine let out for the first 3 sec of running on a strong dose of brake cleaner....has this ever happened to any of you guys? could a little bit of gunk have made my motor stick int he open position?
