wheel hub inner bearing 900 1995

I damaged the wheel hub on the front of my 95 940 (long story) so I had the junk yard mail me a used one. The inner bearing race? (cone) is separated from the inner bearings. Should it be or should I be able to push this race/cone down to fit inside the outer ball bearings? I tried to push by hand but it doesn't fit inside the bearings. if I have to get it inside the bearings how can I accomplish? Or is this wheel hub toast? Appreciate any assistance.
