Service Light wierdness. 200 1990

When I start the car the service light stays on until I go about 3 blocks or so. It's been like this since I bought it a couple of weeks ago.
Tried to reset it with that little push button on the right lower dash but it didn't effect it.
It seems to run alright, so what might be causing that?
