Think I scored a nice one today 900 1996

Tomorrow morning I'm off to collect a 940 wagon a friend of mine bought today. He's just sold his 1970 2 door 120 and we're working on his 144S, it doesn't look like it will realistically be finished for his summer holiday trip at the beginning of August, it's at the glass out stage at the moment.

So he's bought himself a stopgap. I saw a 940 wagon advertised in silver, with a very scant description, but the photo looked OK, so I persuaded him to go and have a look today. It turns out to be a silver 1996 940SE turbo, it's got electric windows, electric glass sunroof, Airco, leather seats (manual) 94000 miles with history, M90 manual gearbox and to my amazement a Turbo plus kit and 16" Genuine Galaxy wheels! Oh, and it turned out to be a high boost car.

It lacks cruise and the external temperature gauge but they're easily retro fitted. The silver bodywork is exceptionally nice.

It's easily the newest Volvo he'll have owned, and the first one with airco. I'm really wondering whether he'll want to go back to a 144 for long distance work once he gets used to the 940, and whether his wife will let him? Its first major run will be to the South of France late July so we've got a bit of time to shake out any bugs it may have. See if it stays a stopgap?

Pete
