Although there are many other posts regarding the speedometer sending units, none of them seem to come to any clear resolution. I am getting error codes indicating that the signal from the sender is missing or faulty. I examined the connection in the rear differential and found the wiring to appear OK. The speedometer stays at 0mph until I hit about 40mph and then the needle bounces to life and works normally. Is the next step to shell out the $100+ to replace the unit?
The Bently manual (460-4) indicates that the sender must be calibrated using a feeler gauge and shims. I can't find any mention of this in any other posts. Has anyone ever done this? Is this a possible fix? Where would I get the shims to insert in the sender?
I have been experiencing hesitation when accelerating from a stop. Could this also be a symptom of the ECU not receiving the correct speed info from the sender? The crank speed sensor was replaced about 6 months ago. Thanks for any help you can offer.
