Brake Flush and Fluid Quantity Needed 700 1990

I'm planning to power flush the non-ABS brake system of my 1990 740 wagon and I've read widely conflictly fluid quantities needed for the flush 750ml - 1500ml. I have one 1 liter can of ATE Super Blue and would hate to run short, but I also hate the thought of buying a second can that I won't use or use only a small portion of. My owner's manual says the system capacity is 500ml, but that doesn't tell me how much I need for a flush. What's your experience?
