960 Tranny info required 900 1996

I am about to drop the auto transmission pan to replace the gasket on my 960 3ltr. 1996 model with AW 30/40 box. as I have a "show of oil" around the joint, (only the gasket, there is no filter in this box according to the dealer)
I rang the local Volvo dealer for a price and availablilty on the gasket and was told to "sit down and get ready!"
The price is £115 English (approx $200)for the chemical gasket that comes in tube form and if I requred one they had one in stock, guess what answer they received to that one! (they did say that they don't sell many)
I have read in past threads that there is a Lexus alternative, is this correct or am I mis-reading the info?
As I mentioned above the oil is not leaking onto the garage floor at the moment but I do need to change some of the oil due to its age, and I don't want the leak to become worse after I have done this.
Paul (England)
