Hey guys,
I read some previous posts on this subject, but I just wanted to get some input before ordering any parts. My V90 has a clunk in the front which is pretty random but seems only to happen when braking or turning. It's a noticable noise and I can feel it in the floor below my left foot when it happens. The big rear control arm bushings have been replaced with OE parts. Yesterday I had my mechanic loosen and retorque the control arm bolts under load. I haven't driven the car yet, but he says it didn't fix the problem :( So, he was making some suggestions, but nothing conclusive. He said I should order the other (front) control arm bushings and try them even though they aren't visually worn. Reading this post: http://www.brickboard.com/RWD/index.htm?id=1050906 it appears as though I should be replacing the strut mount bearings and possibly struts. The thing is that the struts seem to be fine over bumps, etc. My thought is to go in and replace the strut mount bearings. I don't think the strut mounts themselves should need to be replaced as they're the same as those on 700s and 900s which seem to last a long time. As a note, the front suspension and steering components are tight, so it doesn't appear to be a ball joint, tie rod or swaybar link. Anyway, so what do you guys think? Order OE strut bearings? I don't want to just start throwing money/parts at it trying to figure out what the problem is. Thanks in advance for any help!
