Ball Joint/Strut Plate - Not Sold Separately? 200 1988

Hi All,

1988 Volvo 240DL

I'm replacing the ball joint, which came off of the car easily enough. However I can't seem to separate it from the plate that attaches to the bottom of the strut. A replacement plate did not come with my ball-joint purchase and all of the auto parts stores don't know what I'm talking about.

1. Should the plate come standard with the ball-joint purchase?
2. Does anybody know the part ID for this plate, and its proper name?
3. Any recommendations as to how to pop the old ball joint out of the plate?
