I love the old girl, don't get me wrong. I've put 55k miles on her in the last four years but, at 135k miles, I'm now looking at the following investments to keep the car performing like I want. Note: I do not do any of my own work, so I have to pay competent mechanics to do it for me. I know the car will keep running, if I keep spending the money, but at what point is "enough is enough"? Here's what I know I'll need:
Front struts and rear shocks. Cost, $680-1000, depending on what additional parts will need replacement.
Just did the center support bearing at around $500.
Front seals are leaking, apparently the mechanic who did the timing belt at 100k did not think he needed to replace them. So, I can either go another year and a half, with oil seeping out of the front timing belt cover, or I can have the seals replaced/re-do the timing belt early and do the seals at that time. Don't remember what the estimate was for this work.
cat and water pump are new. exhaust and muffler are fairly recent.
So, what d'ya think? Continue to pay? Or should I start looking for a younger ride?
