Greetings All!
I suppose this ones for Sven's Maintainer. 1979 Volvo 242 B21F engine. Over the past 7 months I've had to replace the alternator grounding strap 3 times. This is the flat braided strap that runs from the alternator to the frame and holds the heat tube bracket. It always happens on the highway. Anyways I know that it has broken because the temp and gas gauges instantly go dead. I've always replaced it with a HELP! universal braided grounding strap from the part store, like so...http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductDetail.aspx?MfrCode=DOR&MfrPartNumber=60213&CategoryCode=3012A
It is always cleanly cut (no fraying) about 1 inch from the back of the alternator. I've checked and checked and there is nothing mechanical that could cut the strap (fan, alternator fan...etc). Is there anything electrical that would cause this ground strap to break?
