Looking at a 73 144, Opinions? 140-160 1973

I've been keeping my eyes peeled for a 100 or 200 series Volvo for a while now. Someone at work listed a '73 144 w/auto transmission for sale on the company classifieds. I think I'm nore keen on a late 122, '76-'80 242 or 245, or maybe a 142 but I'll probably take a look at it anyways.

Someone please correct me, but it seems to me that the market for the 140 is, well, pretty weak. Most that stil exist are being used as everyday drivers, not restored as classics. It also seems to be that the '73 144 with the Automatic tranny is about the bottom of the barrel when it comes to desirability of the 140s. Someone please correct me and tell me this car is great!

What I know about the car is that it has "low miles" and "many newer part" (newer than...?). The asking price is $1500 on the east coast. I think I saw this car being driven all last winter. Seems to me to be more of a $500 car.

What should I be looking for on this car? How worried should I be about the fuel injection (D-jet?)? What parts are interchangable with the 240?

Thanks,
Will
