Replacing OEM A/C compressor with a rebuilt one 200 1993

What a pain! several years ago I replaced the belts on my 93 245 ( to my chagrin, I have discovered that it has a 92 model A/C). the belt for the 93 was too short but I forced it on and the resulting twist ruined the bearings in the A/C compressor. I have scored a rebuilt one that fits (after I changed the low side hose to an earlier model). But here is my question:
the electrical connection to the EOM had a diode that grounded to the casing and the rebuilt one has only a direct wire connection.
Will this harm anything? Should I go to a shop and try to find a universal diode and splice it into the wire?
thanks for any help as I am planning to drive "el Avispon Verde"from Brownsville,Texas to Maine in the next 3 weeks, staying and driving around for a month, then driving back. This with a 245 having 210K miles on the odo.
Gracias!
