permanent shorting of 940 A/T microswitch: a good idea or not? 900

In attempting to replace the shift-lock microswitch, it occurs to me, why not just solder a jumper across the terminals to short it out all the time? I've done it with a temporary jumper and pressing the brake triggers the solenoid every time in P, also in N, but in no other gear.

thanks
