Tried to tune up 93 245 only to have him go into no-start conditon!!! Checked fuel by taking apart fuel rail and getting a good shot of petrol coming out. Spark at both coil and plug (yellow but still spark).
Replaced fuel pump relay and crank position sensor. Cleaned and re-installed throttle body. New volvo OEM water pump.
finally tore into timing belt. Belt was OK but (here's the crux of the matter) the rotor was 180 degrees out of kilter. Number one was where #4 should be. I've removed the distributor and installed it in the proper alignment. the cam and crank were both aligned with their marks.
What could have caused the shift of 180 degrees? I don't want it to happen again, especially on the cross country trip I've planned for July/Aug.
thanks for any advice.
