A big THANK YOU to the Brickboard! - ignore this first post! Sorry! 200

Short story first:

Walked out to the 92 244 this morning, got to the bottom of the driveway, and noticed the voltmeter hovering at 12v. Not good. I teach, so being late is a problem, as I am (kind of) key to whole project.

Park the Volvo before killing the battery, hop in the '82 VW Westy (an equally stupid automotive action in its own right, but less likely to leave me stranded in the short run)...

Come home at 6, cook, clean, etc. Too tired to fix/replace the alt until Saturday... but what would the BB collective say? They would say take the multimeter and see if you can run down the problem. 15 minutes later, discovered the female connector at the back of the alt had popped out - stick it in, fire it up, voila'! 14.4v charging.

1.5 years ago, when I decided to start fixing stuff myself, I had no idea what to do, and felt VERY uncomfortable even changing the oil. With the encouragement and instruction of the many, many generous and knowledgeable users here, I was able to save what would certainly have been a trip to the shop not so long ago, as well as aggravation, and money. For that I thank all of you so very much.

Oh, and BTW, if you don't have one, get a voltmeter!

Again, thank you all for your help and instruction!

Lanval
