So Inga is cooling as well as a 86 245DL converted back from 134 to R12 and Freezy 12 is able too. And it is much better than the R134, but think replacing the expansion valve may have a lot to do with that after further review. Noticed that my insulation wrap is getting moist so the Houston humidity is working it's magic.
Oh yes it is my 1986 245DL 213K miles faithful 21 year old piston slappin kitten. 24MPH on the highway with the AC running on high at (as we say here in the Greater Houston area), moving with the flow of traffic.
But back to the question at hand. So that black goo that was on the old expansion valve did a good job preventing moisture from building up on the lines. That is not the case with the foil lined insulation that the owner installed a couple of weeks ago.
So what is it, can you buy it, or is there something simular with the same properties. Was a pain the buttocks to remove and took two pair of plastic gloves to remove it all. But it did the job well and would put the gloves back and jerk that passenger seat and glove box out one more time to fix this.
So BB'ers, anybody know what it is and where one could get his or her hands on it? Are there any better mouse traps out there?
Regards,
PT
