Hey all,
I changed the intake manifold gasket on my 89 244DL yesterday. I noticed that when I was tinkering with pulling the manifold back enough to get my hands down to clean all of the electrical connectors under the manifold, that I had disturbed and broken the feeder line for the cold start injector. It looks like 1/4" line with a barbed banjo connector at the injector end, and a barb coming off of the bottom of the fuel rail.
Since I have the 951 ECU, and it does not use the cold start injector at all (at least, that is what I determined from searching the brickboard), would it be OK for me to unscrew the barbed connector and put in a plug? I'm trying to avoid trying to find a replacement hose for something that isnt' even used anymore! If I can do this, does anybody know off hand what size the threads are? I haven't even tried to unscrew the barb on the fuel line yet (if it can even be done).
If this won't work, I may just use what little bit of thermoplastic line I have left, stick it back on the fuel rail, and stick a bolt inside the line on the other end with a hose clamp around it. I'll be taking the car on a road trip in a few days, and I doubt I'll have time to get another line if nobody around here carries 1/4" fuel line.
Thanks!!!
