Rear taillight harness 200

My 89 240 has old crappy, cracked, leaking taillights. The previous owner hard wired the taillights, so they may look ugly but they all work. I just scored some brand new looking OEM Volvo taillights from my local salvage yard. I would rather not hard wire them like the old ones. How hard is it to remove the rear taillight harness? Does the rear taillights have their own harness? Or do I need to cut the wires upstream some where and splice them into mine?
